Bradford Manufacturing Weeks 2021 – Recycling School Waste Competition

Background

Recycling is one of the best ways for you to have a positive impact on the world in which we live. Recycling is important to both the natural environment and us. We must act fast as the amount of waste we create is increasing all the time. BMW2021 invites your students to immerse themselves in the world of manufacturing and to support our regions educational establishments to make a positive impact on the world we live in by encouraging our young people to come up with innovative solutions to recycling. Are your pupils in years 7 through to Year 13 up for the challenge? Can they design a fun, yet practical, waste recycling unit that can be used in your school or college?

Project Brief

Identify a group/ groups of students to design and manufacture a waste recycling unit for your school or college. The design should be practical but also fun and interesting to encourage students to independently use this. It is down to you to decide how many students take part in this competition. Competition categories are for year groups 7-9 and year groups 10-13. You may decide one group of students’ works on the project from start to finish or you may wish for various departments to be involved such as art and design, technology, science etc - each taking responsibility for a part of the process.

Timescales

Competition pack registration is now open Contact Claudia Scott (Claudia.scott@theopportunitycentre.com) to register and a competition pack will be sent to your school or college in the coming weeks, this is when the competition begins.
